This pane shows you what's happening during processing - that is, when FilFolio™ is extracting the metadata from your image files into your Portfolio™ catalog. If you have too many messages in this pane, then just click the Clear Status button and the messages will be erased.
In the screenshot below you can see that processing has already started; it could be stopped prematurely by clicking the Stop Processing button. Any changes made to your Portfolio™ catalog in the meantime, however, can only be reversed by manually editing each affected record or by reverting to a backup copy of the catalog in question. (You did create a backup, right?) The number of images remaining to be processed is 41 as shown in the status line and we're 25% of the way through processing all of the 53 assets in the gallery.
You can also see that FilFolio™ is saying that it did not extract metadata from the file picinfo.txt. Although FilFolio™ will try to get the metadata out of any file in your gallery/catalog, it will only succeed if that file is a jpg or a tiff. Any other file formats won't cause any bother - only a short message to the Status Pane as shown here. You can change this behavior by telling FilFolio™ which files it must and must not process by using the options in the Processing Pane.
In the next screenshot we see the state of the Status Pane after processing has completed. FilFolio™ did not extract metadata from several of the processed files. This can happen for a number of reasons. For example - the file genuinely has no metadata in it (it might not be an image file in the first place); or the file is corrupt; or the file is one of those formats that FilFolio™ does not support (see Limitations).
